#UkmfgUnite is already helping companies collaborate to support manufacturing’s response to Covid-19, with two of our first members striking up a relationship to potentially ease PPE issues.
Sara Duff, Director of productivity experts Smart Cloud Software, is involved in the Med Supply Drive UK charity, which matches donations and suppliers of PPE equipment with frontline workers in the NHS, care homes, ambulance stations and hospices.
She flagged up this initiative when joining the platform and was immediately put in touch with equipment, materials and tooling specialist Composite Integration Ltd. The latter had pivoted its business to produce thousands of protective visors and was looking for organisations it could supply to.
“It was perfect timing,” pointed out Sara. “We are always looking for new suppliers to add to our website, so that we can refer them directly to our healthcare requesters who can either access a budget holding authority or are currently fundraising.
“Following an initial supplier evaluation, it is great to see Composite Integration is now listed as a supplier, with its visors potentially available to hundreds of users of Med Supply Drive UK, ensuring the majority of PPE solutions are sourced from within the UK.”
Kelly Ellis, General Manager of Composite Integration, added her support: “‘The introduction has helped us two-fold. Firstly, an initial discussion about our diversification from standard ‘business as usual’ to becoming a listed supplier of PPE to Med Supply Drive UK and, secondly, the start of discussions around smart cloud-based systems.
“UkmfgUnite has done exactly what it is designed to do…connecting UK businesses.”
